Label deactivators are a part of electronic article surveillance. These devices as well as EAS labels can be of a various types. The EAS tags and EAS labels  must be removed or deactivated at the checkout so the buyer could pass through the pedestal system without triggering the alarm. There are special detachers to remove hard tags from goods. The labels deactivate by the demagnetization. The cashier should only carry the labeled product above the special device. The radius of operation of the label neutralizer varies depending on the model. Modern models such as label deactivators manufactured by Sensormatic, triggered from a distance of 20 cm and do not require contact between the label and neutralizer. The device signals the cashier about successful deactivation with sound or light. The new technologies allow installing several devices in the vicinity of each other and of the EAS antennas without causing interference. A compact neutralizer of labels comfortably complements the cash desk of even the smallest sizes.
