Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS)

Electronic article surveillance (EAS) is the equipment designed to minimize the loss of shops from thieves and forgetful customers. Today the market presents many opportunities for selection and installation of technical solutions suitable for your store.  In addition to surveillance, certain elements of the EAS equipment perform function of tracking of the product and its calculation. Some time ago, the main anti-theft in retail was video surveillance and specially trained people who were watching the customers; today there are many other technical solutions to prevent such losses. Video surveillance can help to prove the fact of the theft, but sometimes it happens that a thief escapes the attention of observers and guards. Moreover, video cameras and close attention of the security guards can disturb the visitors of your store.

There is necessary of comprehensive approach for the optimization of the system of tracking and recording of goods. The modern electronic article surveillance is aimed to protect every item individually. There are various types of sensors that are in some way attached to the goods. The cashier deactivates or detaches the sensor on checkout. If the sensor wasn’t deactivated pedestal system alerts with light or sound signal. . Anti-theft sensors may look and work differently. Four types of sensors are used nowadays. These are radiofrequency, electromagnetic, acoustomagnetic, radiomagnetic.  A type of sensor is a hard plastic tag attached to the product with cable, clips or nail. Such devices are used for high-value goods and it is almost impossible to crack them.

The hard tags can be performed in various forms depending on the type of the goods to which they must be fitted. You can, for example, order acoustomagnetic sensors manufactured by Sensormatic. These sensors have a response factor of 95%. The shops often use protective equipment systems specifically designed for open shop-cases and shelving racks.  A sensor connected to the protective unit fixed on the product, for example a smartphone or tablet. The buyer can take the smart phone in hand, but cannot move away with him. If one tries to steal the product sounds a signal indicating the rupture of connection between the unit and the sensor. To protect small in size, but a valuable product, one can use a special transparent container - safer, which removes on checkout. Electronic article surveillance includes not only the sensors (tags and labels), but also pedestal systems and deactivators. The system performs in complex. A deactivator must be presented at each cashier’s desk, and the number of pedestal systems depends on the size of the room. The design of devices varies, depending on the interior of the shop you can pick up a suitable model.
