Slicers are the devices for cutting food into pieces of a certain thickness. It is necessary for supermarkets and catering industry to cut such products as meat, sausages, cheese, bread and fish. The device allows automating the process of food cutting, which significantly reduces the time wasted of kitchen’s workers and employees of supermarkets. The devices are divided in several types by type of control. There are: automatic ones, where the cutting process does not require presents of an employee, such devices are used in large industries. And there are semi-automatic devices, where a person should push the product to the knife. Semi-automatic slicers are widely used in supermarkets and in catering. This type of the device is easy to use and allows one to control the process of cutting.

 

There are several types of the devices for different products. The main difference is in the specificity of a knife. A serrated knife is suitable for cutting of bread and Teflon one is good for cheese. Since the knife is the most important part of such equipment, it is necessary to pay special attention to the material from which it is made. The most reliable knives are made ​​of stainless steel. The speed of rotation of the knife plays a significant role in the reduction of product losses while cutting.
